Travel Story Teller Course - User Privacy Policy
MTJ Co., LTD (“Company”) shall collect and handle personal information of participants of the Travel Story Teller (“TST”) course, through which individuals can create accounts and participate in the TST training programs provided by the Company (the “Course”), in accordance with Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (“Act”) and related laws and regulations (collectively, the “Relevant Laws”). Registered users of the Course will hereinafter be referred to as a “User” and the personal information, which is defined under the Act, of Users will hereinafter be referred to as “Personal Information”. The Company has created this Travel Story Teller Course - User privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) to set forth the Company’s handling of Personal Information in accordance with the Relevant Laws and for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. The provision of Personal Information to the Company is voluntary. However, if Personal Information of Users is not received or is removed, Users may not be able to use the Course.
This Privacy Policy may be revised from time to time. When a significant revision to this Privacy Policy is made, the Company will clearly notify Users of such revisions and obtain consent if necessary.
Handling of Personal Information
The Company recognizes that Personal Information is private and needs to be adequately safeguarded. As such, the Company will carefully handle Personal Information and will take appropriate measures to safeguard Personal Information from being accessed illegally, lost, accidentally destroyed, unintentionally altered, or leaked.
The Company will limit access to the Personal Information to employees and third parties who have a legitimate purpose to access it, in accordance with the purposes set forth in this Privacy Policy. The Company will ensure that employees and third parties who have legitimate access to the Personal Information understand their obligations under the Relevant Laws and will strive to maintain the accuracy of the Personal Information. The Company has also appointed a Chief Privacy Officer to handle matters related to the Personal Information including the taking of corrective actions in the case of any incidents involving the Personal Information.
The Personal Information will be maintained for the length of time required to achieve the purposes set forth in this Privacy Policy, or otherwise in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the Relevant Laws.
Scope of Personal Information Collected
The Company may collect the following information, comprising Personal Information.
- Users’ name and e-mail address, provided by the User to the Company through the account creation for the Course.
- Details of Users’ progress and completion of the programs in the Course.
- Details of inquiries, complaints and similar feedback about the Course.
Purpose of use of Personal Information
The Company will use Personal Information for the purposes set forth as follows. In the case that the Company intends to use Personal Information for any other purpose, the Company will separately notify Users and obtain consent if necessary.
- To enable the creation of accounts so that Users may participate in the Course.
- To administer and manage the provision of the Course by the Company and allow for receipt of the Course by Users.
- To prepare User activity statistical data to improve the Course.
- To respond to inquiries from Users and provide Users with important notifications and support.
- To complete the certification process for Users who have completed programs in the Course.
- To conduct surveys about the Course or potential new services.
- To provide information about the Course, new services, promotions and other events to the Users.
- For other purposes incidental to the above purposes.
Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties
The Company may provide Personal Information to third parties in the following cases.
- When the prior consent of the User is obtained.
- When permitted by laws and regulations.
- When it is necessary to protect a person’s life, body or property and it is difficult to obtain the User’s consent.
- When it is particularly necessary to improve public health or promote the sound development of children and it is difficult to obtain the User’s consent
The Company may entrust all or part of the handling of Personal Information to third parties (including to contractors located outside of Japan) when necessary to achieve the purposes of use set out in this Privacy Policy. When entrusting the handling of Personal Information to a third party, the Company will enter into a contract regarding the handling of Personal Information, prohibit the use of the Personal Information for any purpose other than for the purposes set forth in this Privacy Policy and will supervise the third party to ensure compliance with the contract. Contracts with contractors located outside of Japan will include clauses that are needed to ensure arranging necessary systems to continuously perform measures equivalent to what Japanese companies should perform under the Act.
The Course is hosted by Thinkific Labs Inc. (“Thinkific”). Thinkific provides the Company with the online course creation platform that allows the Company to provide the Course to Users. Users’ Personal Information is stored through Thinkific’s data storage, databases and the general Thinkific application. Thinkific stores Users’ Personal Information on a secure server behind a firewall.
Disclosure, Correction, Removal, etc. of Personal Information
Users may have the Company disclose, correct, or remove and delete their Personal Information, by contacting the Company using the contact information below. Once the identification of the User is confirmed, within a reasonable amount of time, their Personal Information will be disclosed, corrected, or removed and deleted pursuant to their request.
